5 Things to Know about the Upcoming LG G6 Flagship Smartphone

LG G6 Flagship SmartphoneLG G6 is heating up the rumor mill much before its official unveiling.

The successor to LG G5 is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2017 and will have some exciting tricks under its sleeve.

Let’s find out what we know so far and what we expect to see from LG’s next flagship handset.

First of its kind Iris Scanner

As per a report by Gsmarena, the upcoming LG G6 will feature an Iris scanner built into the selfie camera module and this is unlike the Galaxy Note 7, which has a selfie camera and a dedicated second camera for iris recognition. LG has combined the two in a single module and has added a filter that will allow the two functions to coexist under the same roof.

Bye Bye Modular Design

LG G5 was the first Modular smartphone with the ability to swap a panel and replace it to add a new feature to the handset. The design turned a number of heads and even forced other manufacturers to join the game.

Sadly, LG G6 is ditching the Modular design. Yes, you heard it right. Instead of improving on the Modular design technology, LG is going to follow the traditional non-Modular design approach with the upcoming LG G6.

LG Pay Mobile Payments

LG has been working on its own mobile payment system since last one year and is rumored to adopt the MST technology into the LG G6 for mobile payments. It is the same technology used by Samsung Pay for its smartphones. So, we might see LG introducing LG pay mobile payment technology with the LG G6.

A4K Display?

LG G5 features a 5.3-inch 2K display and the chances are very slim that LG will go lower with the LG G6 display. The tech giant might even fit a higher resolution 4K panel to further improve the multimedia viewing experience.

Android 7.0 Nougat and the upcoming Snapdragon 830 CPU

LG is already offering Android 7.0 Nougat with the upcoming LG V20 and it is very likely that the upcoming LG G6 will come with the latest software out-of-the box.

Besides, we expect LG G6 to feature the Qualcomm’s new but unannounced Snapdragon 830 CPU, considering the fact that LG did not make any compromises with the hardware of LG G5.
